Scarlet Dempster

The Tombstone Mountains are located about seventy-five kilometres from the start of the gorgeous Dempster Highway, Yukon. This was the end of August, but fall had already taken hold and the hills were carpeted in rich colour. There’s a good campground there, where we spent the night. A vicious hailstorm blew in as we arrived, but I was able to capture this dark cloud hovering over the mountains minutes before we were pounded with hail and rain, while trying to set up our furiously flapping tent. It's a wild place but so beautiful.
