Hungabee After the Storm - Lake O'Hara - Yoho National Park
Oil Painting on stretched canvas - 18x24 inches - I spent a week at the Elizabeth Parker Hut at Lake O'Hara several years ago, cooking for the Alpine Club Annual Climbing Camp. I awoke early to prepare breakfast in the morning, and walked outside to greet the day. It was stunning! A blanket of new snow lay heavily everywhere. The sun was just hitting the Alpine Meadow, and a small tree close by was beautifully backlit. However, looking further, I saw that up high, the wind was furious, and blowing a massive plume of deep snow from the summit of Hungabee, and the mountain cast a shadow across the huge plume, an eerie but beautiful site.
