Hungabee After the Storm - Lake O'Hara - Yoho National Park
Oil Painting on stretched canvas - 18x24 inches
I spent a week at the Elizabeth Parker Hut at Lake O'Hara years ago, cooking for the Alpine Club of Canada’s Annual Climbing Camp. I awoke early to prepare breakfast for the group, and walked outside to greet the day. It was stunning!
A blanket of new snow lay heavily everywhere. The sun was just hitting the Alpine Meadow, and a small tree close by was beautifully backlit. Looking further, I saw that up high, the wind was furious, and blowing a massive plume of deep snow from the summit of Hungabee. The mountain cast its’ shadow across the huge plume, an eerie but beautiful site. Just one more spectacular day to add to many I have been lucky to spend at wonderful Lake O’Hara.
