Larches at Upper Skoki Lake 12x16 oils
The Skoki area in Banff National Park is a treasure. We spent a week backpacking in the region and had stopped to eat lunch above the upper lake, also known as Zigadenus Lake. It was a stunning setting and we lingered on a flat rock to enjoy the sun.
A short time later we realized we were not alone. A hoary marmot was sunning a short distance behind us, not at all concerned with our being in his territory. We three ate contentedly together before we continued on our way down to Lake Louise, the end of our hike.
