Rainy Day Bow Lake #2, Banff National Park, 8x10 oils
This plein air painting was done on site at Bow Lake along the Icefields Highway from Banff to Jasper. It was a grey wet day with a lot of mist in the air. These days can make for some moody and mystical paintings. It's a challenge to paint when rain hits your board, and your hands are close to frozen, but the results can be quite soft and lovely. The Bow Glacier which you can see beyond Bow Lake is the beginning of the Bow River which runs through Calgary, Alberta.
