Struggle to Survive
plein air oil painting - 8x6 inches framed. This painting is currently in a lovely deep green frame with a 3 " scooped liner. It can be bought unframed also. This is Summit Lake on the Creston-Salmo Skyway. I spent a short while sketching the lake with the grey clouds hovering over it. It was cold, and most inhospitable, with a brusque wind blowing. A tiny island lay connected by a small isthmus of grass to the shore. On this island, several trees grew. It struck me how difficult it must be for these pines to survive the constant onslaught of the wind. Some had died while others were clawing out an existence in their shadows. That's life in our mountains.
